
Christina Simkovich
Ballet, Contemporary, and Modern
Christina began her professional training at age 8 with ballet master Leonid Lubarsky from the Kirov Ballet. She spent many years with him and also attended Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre on scholarship. She also trained (CAPA) The Pittsburgh Creative and Performing Arts high school, The Academy for Arts Science and Technology in Myrtle Beach, Myrtle Beach School of Performing Art, and various summer intensives such as Chautauqua Ballet( on scholarship) and Parsons Dance. Christina danced with North Atlanta Dance Theatre for multiple seasons as a soloist and performed ballets such as Giselle, Synergy, Pirates of the Phantom Waves and The Nutcracker. She has also performed with Pittsburgh Musical Theatre in their production of Cats as the role of Cassandra, collaborated with Kalavani Dance Company (choreographing and performing original works),and has performed and worked with Ballethnic, Dance Canvas, City Gate Contemporary Ballet and danced with Room to Move modern dance company for multiple seasons. Christina has been a freelance dancer for the many years and it has allowed her creative freedom and multiple diverse performance opportunities. She has performed with comedian Hannibal Buress for the Atlanta Odd Ball Comedy tour, has been a show girl for multiple events, danced and modeled for Bill Hallman designs,danced as “interactive art” in Buckhead Atlanta and has performed at Westside culture arts center and Kai Lin art gallery.
Christina, is passionate about choreographing and acting. She has choreographed and performed pieces for Sandy Springs Arts Festival ,Pittsburgh's Light Up Night, Continuum Dance Company's Show Love Etc., North Atlanta Dance Theatre's contemporary shows and Ballet Fest. She performed leading roles in the feature independent film "The Quiet Arrangement", the short film"One More Kiss" ,and J.Bird Productions music video, "Tethered” and A.C Macdonald band music video “Rid of Me”. Christina has worked with SCC Presents on multiple events as a dancer, choreographer, and performance artist in Atlanta. She also is an instructor and teaches multiple forms of dance. She has students who are currently at Houston Ballet, Ballet West, The Bolshoi, Sarasota Ballet and The Carey Ballet. She loves teaching and is so proud to watch the success of her students. Christina has been an instructor for The Academy for Arts Science and Technology, Myrtle Beach School of the Performing Arts, Pittsburgh Ballet House, The British Academy of Performing Arts and North Atlanta Dance Academy.She is currently teaching at Dance Institute and performing in Austin, Tx.
